Buffalo, NY – The Children's Guild Foundation has awarded a $100,000 grant to SABAH.
The Foundation announced the winner Wednesdsay night during its 100th Anniversary Gala in Buffalo.
SABAH, now know as Skating Athletes Bold at Heart, won the grant for its plans to expand its service.
It will place turf over its ice skating rink so it can also be used for other sports to teach special needs children.
Catherine Gura is president of the Children's Guild Foundation. Gura said the Foundation's Purpose and Passion grant will allow SABAH to offer sports year-round..
"What they decided to do was turf over the ice rink, and use it 12 months a year to provide regular sports programming for children. So they will be doing football clinics, field hockey, baseball," said Gura.
SABAH was among five finalists in the running for the grant.
The Children's Guild Foundation has been providing programs and services for special needs children since 1910.
