Buffalo, NY – Sam Hoyt celebrated a win late Tuesday night. He narrowly defeated democratic challenger Buffalo Common Council member Joseph Golombek for the 144th State Assembly district. With 94% of the vote counted, Hoyt won the democratic primary 52 to 48% over Golombek.

Hoyt met with a crowd of supporters, family and friends at Casa di Pizza on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo. That is where he delivered his victory speech.

During his speech, Hoyt called on Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown to end his six year fight against Hoyt.

"If we are every going to successfully confront the challenges our region faces, then we must learn to work cooperatively. Let us lay down our arms and instead join them so that we may work together to make our region greater," said Hoyt.

Hoyt has served in the Assembly for nine-terms.
