Buffalo, NY – A member of Western New York's state delegation isn't afraid to speak his mind about the dysfunction in Albany. WBFO'S Eileen Buckley caught up with Assemblyman Mark Schroeder about the lack of changes and reforms in the midst of an economic crisis.
" I am disgusted in terms of what has happened in Albany over the last year or so," said state Assemblyman Mark Schroeder.
The Democratic Assemblyman said his constituents are angry and outraged with the state Legislature's behavior.
"They are so disgusted and they feel nothing is going to come of it," said Schroeder.
Schroeder believes even his fellow Democrats in the Assembly remain unrealistic about the state's future and the election of a new governor.
"In my view, they are in denial. They think everything is going along swimmingly," said Schroeder.
Schroeder also predicts that if Democrat Andrew Cuomo is elected governor, he will turn Albany upside down, based on his 264 page new - New York Agenda.
"Andrew Cuomo is actually putting in play what he is going to do and everyone in this state is going to be able to hold him accountable for it," said Schroeder.
Schroeder accuses long-time Assembly members of being "disconnected" with reality.
The Assemblyman believes the Legislature is beyond reform. He said it's time to transform the way government does business in the state. But he said in order to do that voters must support independent lawmakers who don't join the "Shelly Silver club".
