Attica, NY – On August 12th, 1929, an earthquake (5.6 magnitude, intensity VIII) at 6:25AM in Attica caused some severe damage in Western New York, including over 250 collapsed chimneys; it was felt over a 100 thousand square mile area; aftershocks were recorded Dec 2 and 3 1929.
