Mayor opens new police satellite office in City Hall

By WBFO News

Buffalo, NY – Mayor Byron Brown officially opened a new police satellite station on the second-floor of City Hall Monday.

The new office will be located in the city's 311 suite of offices on the second floor of City Hall. It will be staffed by Buffalo Police Department personnel Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Brown says he wants to make it easier for the public to report cases of professional misconduct in the department.

"This is another effort by our administration to help our residents provide information confidentially to the Buffalo Police Department that may be of a sensitive nature and could involve internal investigations by the department," Brown said.

Acting police commissioner Daniel Derenda says the new office -- for the first time -- gives citizens a chance to lodge complaints outside of the city's police precincts.
