Albany, NY – Governor David Paterson says an agreement has been reached to re-open 55 state parks and historic sites open for the Memorial Day weekend.
Paterson says negotiations ended early Thursday morning on a plan that would provide 11 million dollars for full parks operations this year. The parks spending would be offset by cuts to the state's Environmental Protection fund.
The State Assembly approved the parks bill early Friday morning. The State Senate was expected to do the same later in the morning.
Woodlawn Beach and Knox Farm are among the 41 parks and 14 historic sites that could reopen if a deal is reached.
