Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Police are looking the driver of a Ford pick up truck that was involved in the hit and run accident of a woman in South Buffalo Monday. 44-year old Lynette Venezia of Buffalo was crossing at Abbott Road and Lorraine in front of Mercy Hospital when she was struck in the crosswalk by a vehicle coming off Cazenovia.

The woman is pregnant. She is in critical condition at ECMC's trauma unit with multiple injuries, including head injuries. Her unborn baby is still alive.
Police spokesman Mike DeGeorge met with reporters just before the noon hour on Wednesday outside of Buffalo Police Headquarters. DeGeorge said investigators are looking for a newer model Ford pick up, possibly a four door, either maroon or red in color.
Witnesses told police the driver got out of his vehicle after the accident, then got back in and left the scene.
"The one thing I would say, there is some possible progress regarding the suspected vehicle in this incident, and I will leave it at that," said DeGeorge.
The vehicle has tinted windows and chrome grill and trim. It also had a silver tool box built in the back. Witnesses describe the driver as a white male, possibly in his 30's, wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, blue-jeans and a black, buttoned down shirt.
There is a Buffalo Police surveillance at the corner of Abbott and Lorraine, but it is currently not in service due to construction.
"It is my understanding, that because of construction in that area. the camera has been down for a couple of days," said DeGeorge.
The investigation is on-going. DeGeorge said they only know the woman reportedly was leaving Mercy Hospital early Monday morning when she was hit in the cross walk.
