Buffalo, NY – Some Buffalo Common Council members were thrilled to learn that the President -- who touts an urban agenda -- is headed to the Queen City.
Niagara District Lawmaker David Rivera is hoping Mr. Obama visits the heart of the Buffalo.
"I would invite him to the West Side to see what's going on here," Rivera said.
University District Council woman Bonnie Russell is calling on federal leaders to include city lawmakers in this visit so their message for help is delivered directly to the President.
"City and county officials know what the constituents want," Russell said. "We're on the ground level hearing it every day."
Delaware District lawmaker Michael LoCurto says Buffalo is the perfect city to examine what's happening with the economy.
"It'll be good for him to get a first-hand experience," LoCurto said.
South District lawmaker Mickey Kearns says as the third poorest city in the nation, Buffalo needs the President's help. But on the lighter side, Kearns joked he would also like to ask the President how he maintains such a great jump shot in basketball.
