Buffalo, NY – An anticipated change near the top of the Erie County Water Authority has just been made more difficult to execute.
Executive Director Robert Mendez has been awarded a new contract by the Authority's board of commissioners. The new three year contract will pay Mendez three hundred thousand dollars if he is removed without proper cause within the first year.
Change had been foreseen for the politically appointed position as Mendez is disliked by many entities and the County's new legislative make-up was eyeing changes in the Authority's board. Mendez has been on the job since 1996.
