Buffalo, NY – It came as a surprise to many people heading to work Wednesday morning. Moisture from Tuesday's rainfall, combined with freezing temperatures, created slick driving conditions on area expressways.
The black ice was to blame for a number of accidents on the 90 and 290, the Kensington Expressway and Routes 219 and 400. Overturned vehicles and collisions were a common site, especially on slippery ramps.
There were no reports of any serious injuries from the accidents.
