Buffalo, NY – Hundreds of Buffalo police officers and firefighters staged a large protest Friday against Mayor Brown prior to his speech for the city's for failure to reach new contract deals.
The police and fire protestors chanted, booed guests and told attendees to boycott the event inside Convention Center on Franklin Street. Firefighters union president Daniel Cunningham accuses the mayor of failing to come to the negotiating table.
But the Mayor says the city has negotiated two contracts with the firefighters that included more than 20% pay raises. Both were rejected by rank and file. Firefighters have been without a contract for eight years.
