Mobile Safety-Net Team brings services to those in need

By Andrew Polino

Buffalo, NY – A team of charitable organizations is combining to spread the word about the services available to people facing poverty.

Thousands of newly unemployed people may be unaware of what's out there in a struggling economy. So, the Mobile Safety-Net Team was set up to respond. Team supervisor Jeffrey Pironne says they'll be reaching out directly to people in need.

"People will come in and learn about all the services that are available, what they might be eligible for and how to sign up," said Pirrone. "This will help people overcome some of the obstacles they face and get out of their situations."

Pironne says the Mobile Safety-Net Team will be at the Northwest Buffalo Community Center next week.

Among the participating organizations are the Food Bank of Western New York, the Salvation Army of Buffalo and the Erie County Department of Social Services.
