Buffalo, NY – State Assemblyman Sam Hoyt is reaching out to the State Health Department to look into claims by "D" District Station police officers in Buffalo over possible health hazards at their workplace.
The station house was closed down last Friday because of the presence of mold.
Hoyt wrote Health Commissioner Richard Daines after reading a report in the Buffalo News that some officers have been diagnosed with cancer in recent years.
Hoyt says he is also concerned about the impact the station's closing is having on public safety in North Buffalo. A sign on the building indicates it's closed and that people in need of emergency help should call 911.
