Buffalo, NY – The move by Tops Markets to buy a chain of grocery stores operated by Penn Traffic has been completed.
The bankruptcy by Penn Traffic affected seventy-nine stores in New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont and New Hampshire, including thirteen Quality Markets in Western New York.
By agreement, all stores will remain open during a thirty day transition and review period. A few stores are expected to eventually be closed or sold.
The eighty-five million dollar transaction will double the holdings of the Western New York based Tops chain.
