Buffalo, NY – Less than two weeks after leaving office, former Orchard Park Town Supervisor Mary Travers Murphy has a new job. She was named executive director of the Family Justice Center, a local agency that assists victims of domestic violence.

Many Western New Yorkers remember Mary Travers Murphy as the crusading consumer reporter on Channel 7. Now, she'll be crusading for women and children who are escaping violence in their homes. Murphy says her television background, combined with the experience she gained as a town supervisor, will serve her well in her new position coordinating domestic violence services.

"The FJC is a perfect fit for me and it will be an exhilarating challenge to move the FJC forward," said Murphy. "I look forward to growing the organization so that we can help the thousands of abuse victims in Erie County who desperately need these services."

Murphy succeeds Linda Ray, who is leaving the Family Justice Center next month to become a consultant to non-profit agencies.
