Buffalo, NY – New UB Football Coach Jeff Quinn was introduced at a news conference at UB Stadium Tuesday afternoon. He accepted the Bulls coaching position last weekend and will succeed Turner Gill, who left UB for the University of Kansas.
UB Athletics Director Warde Manuel says more than 150 candidates expressed interest in becoming coach of the Bulls. He says he interviewed six candidates before settling on Quinn.
Quinn will be leading the undefeated Cincinnati Bearcats as interim coach in their New Year's Day game against Florida in the Sugar Bowl. He has spent the past three seasons as Cincinnati's offensive coordinator. Quinn says for now, he's focused on leading Cincinnati to victory. But after January 2nd, Quinn says his attention shifts to the Bulls.
Quinn says he shares UB's commitment to academic and athletics excellence. And he says he values the contributions of each and every player.
Both Quinn and Manuel recognized former UB President William Greiner, who died last weekend, for his contributions to the recent success of UB athletics.
