Buffalo, NY – The UB Regional Institute is marking a new chapter in its history with the official opening of its new headquarters in downtown Buffalo.
The Institute studies regional issues to help local stakeholders make more informed decisions. It moved from its rather quaint space in Beck Hall on UB's South Campus to the new UB Gateway Building downtown.
"We want to celebrate this new chapter in the institute's history, one offering greater visibility and opportunity for new partnerships and activities," said Kathryn A. Foster, institute director. "Proximity to our government, business and civic partners in the region's hub lets us broaden and deepen our regional connections."
The Regional Institute was the first unit of the university to move into the old M. Wile Building, which was purchased in 2007. Also housed at the UB Downtown Gateway are the administrative offices for UB-MD, representing 450 university physicians and the newly created Economic Engagement office.
The UB Regional Institute hosted an open house for dozens of guests Tuesday afternoon.
