Buffalo, NY – The lake effect snow warning for northern Erie County, including Buffalo, has been downgraded to an advisory. The advisory covers not only northern Erie County, but Niagara, Orleans and Genesee Counties until 10pm.
As of 11:30, the band of lake snow was north of the city, covering Grand Island, Niagara Falls and Lockport.
Forecasters say another two to three inches could fall in the most persistent snow this afternoon. Meteorologist Bob Hamilton of the National Weather Service says a little rain could mix with the snow.
Occasional lake effect snow showers could result in another inch or two tonight, resulting in a total accumulation of three to five inches throughout areas north of Buffalo. But the traditional snowbelt to the south will see little or no snow.
