Buffalo, NY – The morning commute was a challenge as an overnight heavy-wet snow blanketed the region early Tuesday.
The first winter storm of the season made driving difficult and many single-car spin-outs slowed things down on the major routes.
Five-point-eight inches of snow was recorded at the airport weather station. But just as quickly as the snow arrived, it began melting as temperatures climbed into the 40s under sunny skies.
The snow was also enough to end Buffalo's snowless streak at 237 days - the fourth-longest stretch in recorded history. The longest was 277 days in 1946.
