Albany, NY – The State University of New York Board of Trustees is calling for a two percent increase in tuition. It would be the second straight year of increases.
Tuition would rise to $5,070 a year at most of SUNY's 64 campuses for state residents, a $100 increase. The governor and State Legislature would still need to approve the tuition increase beginning in the fall 2010 semester.
The SUNY board also approved a request of about two billion dollars in state funding for the coming year.
And trustees named former UB President William Greiner president emeritus. Greiner served as UB 13th president from 1991 to 2004. In making the appointment, trustees cited Greiner's dedication to students and UB and his sterling reputation as the quintessential university citizen. Greiner retired from teaching last month because of ill health.
