Collins Responds to Silver Remarks, Looks Ahead to Future

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Executive Chris Collins made a public appearance at Republican headquarters for Tuesday's election results. For some news reporters, it was the first chance to ask him about his inappropriate comment regarding State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.

After celebrating several Republican victories Tuesday night, Collins finally took a couple of questions about his bad joke. At a recent Erie County Republican dinner in Buffalo Collins compared Silver to Adolf Hitler and an Antichrist. Collins insists he made his comments to emphasize the "three men in a room" budget process in Albany.

Collins has since apologized to Silver insisting it was meant as a joke.
