Buffalo Bills Beat New York Jets in Overtime

By Bert Gambini

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Bills overcame an injury to starting quarterback Trent Edwards Sunday in the Meadowlands to comeback and beat the New York Jets 16-13 in overtime.

Rian Lindell kicked a 47-yard field goal in the extra period, redeeming himself for a missed 46-yard effort that would have won the game at the end of regulation.

"I kind of learned from the one at the end of regulation and just told myself to make sure you stay a little slower and usually if I do that and get my foot out in front of it and its timed up it's better," said Lindell.

Head Coach Dick Jauron says this was a much needed win.

"It sure was a great win for our football team and we certainly needed it," said Jauron. "I can't say enough about that group of guys. They won't quit no matter what happens. They just keep coming and they kept coming. Just a great win for our football team."

This was Buffalo's first win over an AFC East opponent since December 2007.

Trent Edwards left the game with a concussion in the second quater and was replaced by back-up Ryan Fitzpatrick who went 10 of 25 for 166 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The Bills, with the win, improve to 2-4 on the season.
