Buffalo, NY – Damaging winds, heavy downpours and hailstorms created all kinds of problems Monday, many which lingered Tuesday morning.
Monday's changing and hazardous weather created some localized flooding on area roadways. Ridge Road in Lackawanna was closed overnight. Route 5 remains closed in the eastbound direction from Lake to Ridge.
In Cheektowaga, where a peak wind gust of 61 mph was recorded, police had block the 33 exit at Union Road Monday night as rising waters trapped some motorists in their cars.
In neighborhoods throughout Western New York, crews are working this morning clearing debris, branches, and fallen trees.
Utility crews have been busy since Monday afternoon and continue to work Tuesday morning. There are no reports of any injuries as a result of Monday's storms.
Forecasters say except for the warmer temperatures Monday, the conditions creating this storm were similar to the ones that led to the October Storm of 2006.
