Buffalo, NY – A very dangerous situation for airline pilots was defused by the Erie County Sheriff's Air One and Buffalo Police Thursday night.

Three men were arrested for shining a laser light at aircraft heading to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The Sheriff's Air One helicopter tracked the suspects after a FedEx flight notified authorities that it was lasered while landing at the airport.

Captain Kevin Caffery responded while on patrol with the Buffalo Police Mobile Response Unit. Caffery tracked the laser to the city's Kaisertown neighborhood and a home on Griswold Street.

Buffalo Police arrested 28-year-old Bradley Campbell, 20-year-old Eric Voigt and his 42-year-old father Timothy Voigt. They're charged with reckless endangerment. The FAA and FBI are investigating. Additional charges are possible. Authorities say it wasn't just a playful stunt.
