Buffalo, NY – Peace Bridge expansion plans may start moving forward again after a decision by the Department of Homeland Security not to try to move the Peace Bridge truck plaza to the Canadian side of the bridge.
The Bush Administration had already decided against the move, but the Obama Administration reconsidered it at the request of Representative Louise Slaughter.
The decision means the Peace Bridge Authority will likely announce its new bridge design next month as scheduled. Construction work on the plaza won't begin until 2012, with completion of the bridge not expected for a decade.
