Buffalo, NY – Buffalo native and NHL star Patrick Kane says he is sincerely sorry.
The Chicago Blackhawks winger issued an apology to his fans and the Chicago Blackhawks.
The South Buffalo native spoke for the first time publicly Monday since an August 9th incident involving a cab driver in Buffalo. Kane and his cousin were arrested for assault and robbery of a Buffalo cab driver. A police report says it involved a dispute over cab fare.
Kane made a brief public comment as he begins to take part in the U.S. Olympic orientation camp Monday morning.
Kane says he can not discuss the details of his case. But he said he "sincerely apologizes". Kane says he realizes the incident has caused a lot of pain for his hometown of Buffalo as well as for the Chicago Blackhawks and fans. Kane says he put himself in the wrong position at the wrong time.
Kane's case is being reviewed by an Erie County Grand Jury. Kane is also scheduled to appear back in Buffalo court this Thursday.
