Flooding in Southern Tier

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard and County Executive Chris Collins conducted an aerial view of the Erie-Cattaragus border Monday. Sheriff Howard say they saw a great deal of washed out roads and bridges.

At least 100 boats have been reported to be damaged by the flooding along Cattaraugus Creek.

County Executive Collins issued a formal "state of emergency" late Monday afternoon for Erie County Monday afternoon. The focus is on the towns and villages in Southern portion impacted by the severe thunderstorms Sunday night. The County will be accessing damage to county roadways and assist affected towns and villages with their needs.

County Executive Collins will be meeting with local officials and touring the storm damage on foot Tuesday morning.
