Buffalo, NY – Buffalo police are continuing their investigation into the shooting deaths of two people on the city's East Side early Wednesday. Three others were wounded in the gun violence on Hirschbeck Street in Broadway-Bailey neighborhood.
Police have identified the victims as 25-year-old Joseph Lovett of Buffalo and 19-year-old Jamie Norton of Derby. Police say it may have been a robbery that went bad. Family members of Lovett claim it was a "hit" against Norton, who had testified before a grand jury in another murder case.
The other victims were taken to the Erie County Medical Center and are expected to survive. They are Lawanda Strozier, 27, of Hirschbeck Street, who is in serious condition. Kimberly Caldwell, 20, of Derby is in fair condition. And Joseph Cole, 29, of Buffalo was treated and released from ECMC.
The mayor joined police officers in a sweep of the neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, asking residents for their help.
