Damage But No Injuries from Weekend Storms

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – One day after a tornado touched down in Genesee County, another storm with reported funnel clouds caused damage in southern Cattaraugus County Sunday night.

Several boats were damaged at the Onoville Marina near Allegany State Park. The marina's Ronald Ormond says the storm moved through quickly.

Sunday night's storm came only a day after a tornado caused widespread property damage in the town of Darien and village of Corfu. No injuries were reported, but as many as 30 homes and some businesses along a four mile path were damaged by the storm.

National Weather Service meteorologist Steve McLaughlin says the Saturday storm cell had passed over Buffalo moments earlier, with very heavy rainfall and dangerous potential.

The tornado was rated at EF1, with winds of 86 to 110 miles per hour.
