Buffalo, NY – Police in Buffalo are investigating two separate shootings that occurred within an hour, leaving one person dead and three others wounded.
Officials say the first shooting occurred around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday outside the Delavan Grider Community Center. Police spokesman Mike DeGeorge says an altercation involving a group of people began inside the building before spilling outside, where shots were fired.
Two people were taken to Erie County Medical Center, where one of them was dead on arrival. The victim killed in the shooting was identified as Michael Mayfield, 16, of Buffalo. Detectives are also investigating the possibility, that a second victim, David Williams, 19, also of Buffalo, was also shot at that scene and also transported to ECMC by private vehicle. He is currently listed in fair condition.
Less than an hour later, two other people were shot in the 300 block of Rother Avenue. Police believe the two male victim's were standing outside when an unknown person or persons fired multiple shots at them. Both victim's were transported to ECMC by ambulance.
One victim, Timothy Finch, 20, of Buffalo, was apparently struck in the thigh area. He's in fair condition at ECMC. The other victim, Tyrone Nance, 28, of Buffalo, was treated and released at ECMC after apparently being struck in the stomach area.
