Tonawanda, NY – City of Tonawanda business owners now have the opportunity to apply for a matching grant of up to $10,000 to improve the exterior of their storefronts.
The grants use federal dollars to pay for such improvements as new signage, lighting and awnings. Kory Schuler runs Sweet Briar Antiques on Main Street in Tonawanda. Schuler says he plans to apply for the grant.
Seven Tonawanda businesses have already applied to the program, which is being coordinated by Erie County.
Officials say that same program recently funded nearly $120,000 worth of projects in the Village of Gowanda.
