Wilson, NY – A western New York school board has reinstated two baseball coaches to their teaching jobs after they were cleared of charges stemming from an alleged hazing incident on a team bus. The Wilson School Board voted Tuesday to reinstate teachers Thomas Baia and William Atlas. They had been suspended with pay for more than a year.
Last week, Niagara County prosecutors dropped child endangerment charges against the two men as jury selection for their trial was about to begin.
The coaches were charged in April 2008 following incident on a team bus that authorities say involved forcible touching involving team members. The two men were accused of failing to properly supervise players on the bus.
On Thursday, a town justice cleared two Wilson baseball players of charges stemming from the incident.
