Buffalo, NY – Martin Luther King, Jr. Park on Buffalo's East Side has new pedestrian pathways.
A $100,000 grant from James H. Cummings Foundation helped restore 1,700 feet of walkways that were part of the original design by Frederick Law Olmsted. Community members and politicians were at the park Tuesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Masten District Council member Demone Smith recalled an internship he had with the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy a decade ago when he planted trees along the park's perimeter. He says the park is looking much better.
New landscaping and trees were also part of the renovations.
