Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Police say they raided several homes over the weekend making nine arrests. Armed with search warrants, Police conducted drug raids in the City's Kaisertown section and South Buffalo area on Saturday.

But in one of the raids, an officer was forced to shot and kill two dogs. Police Sergeant Daniel Rinaldo says when he entered a home at 81 Indian Church Road he encountered two pit pulls.

"I made a decision in a split second to kill both dogs and I don't feel good about doing it," said Rinaldo during a news confernece at Buffalo Police Headquarters Monday afternoon.

Rinaldo says it was a siutaiton is "regrettable" and there was nothing elese he could do. Rinaldo says is sorry that it happened, but is something that happens in raids.

68 year old Daniel Patterson and his 27 year old daughter Rita were at home when officers broke into the house. They claim they wanted to move the dogs into another room. No arrests were made at that home, however, police insist they had a warrant for that home.

Buffalo Police say prescription drugs were purchased at that address by undercover officers. Two more arrests are expected. Police confiscated drugs, weapons and cash. They say drug activity was netting about $5,000 a day by the sellers.
