Buffalo, NY – State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer is calling on Governor David Paterson and other state leaders to reinstate the STAR property tax rebate plan.
The STAR program was eliminated in order to help close the state's budget deficit. Ranzenhofer claims that the STAR rebate checks, which can put as much as $400 back into the accounts of Western New Yorker senior citizens, are needed by all qualifying homeowners because of the local economy.
Ranzenhofer said eliminating the STAR program could have an estimated $80 million effect on taxpayers in Erie County.
