Buffalo, NY – Erie County Health Commissioner Anthony Billittier says they will no longer release numbers of bodies recovered from crash site. Billittier issued that statement during a briefing on the recovery efforts of Flight 3407 during a briefing Sunday night at the Erie County Emergency Services Headquarters in Cheektowaga.
Goodrich Road in the town of Clarence between Maple and Clarence Center Road was closed as of 1'o'clock Sunday afternoon. Authorities had reopened that stretch of Goodrich at 6'o'clock Sunday morning. But after putting out a plea to the general public to stay away from the area, it has to be shut down.
State Police Captain Steven Nigrelli says say the road was closed due to heavy traffic volume and complaints from residents. They say people were trying to gain access by entering their backyards to get near the crash site area to video tape and photograph the scene. Captain Nigrelli stressed to citizens that the opening of the road is not an "invitation" to the crash site. Those who are not Clarence residents are asked to seek alternate routes.
