Buffalo, NY – Univera Healthcare named a new president Wednesday.
Arthur Wingerter will head up Univera -- one of the area's big three non-profit health insurers. He has a strong background in healthcare and business management in Western New York. Wingerter is a former senior vice president of North American Health Plans.
His appointment was announced on the same day of a majoring restructuring at one of Univera's competitors, HealthNow, the parent company of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York. HealthNow laid off 17 top executives and other employees, including former Erie County Executive Dennis Gorski, in a major restructuring.
Wingerter will assume his new duties at Univera on February 23rd.
