Buffalo, NY – Two Buffalo area men are under arrest for their alleged roles in a fraudulent auto loan scheme.
The State Attorney General's office says 35-year-old Matthew Hunter and 54-year-old John Pazamickas were charged Monday with Scheming to Defraud and Grand Larceny.
Assistant Attorney General Dennis Rosen says the two defendants offered to refinance auto loans for consumers and then provide extended warranties. But Rosen says it was all a scam.
"They didn't provide the warranties that people thought they were getting because (the defendants) didn't pay the warranty companies" Rosen said.
Rosen says Hunter and Pazamickas are accused of stealing more than $240,000 from unsuspecting consumers. Rosen says most of the consumers will be held harmless after two of the warranty companies agreed to honor the provisions of the extended warranties.
