Buffalo, NY – Administrators at the University at Buffalo are keeping a close eye on the developing budget crisis in New York. A 45-day hiring freeze and a moratorium on major purchases were imposed this week.
Governor David Paterson is asking state agencies to reduce spending in their respective budgets by seven percent. He's also calling state legislators to an emergency session on August 19th to make an additional $600 million in cuts.
All this talk of cuts is creating an uncertain future for the University at Buffalo. Marsha Henderson is vice president of External Affairs at UB. She joined us in studio Thursday afternoon to talk more about this.
