"Fowl" Accident at 90/190 Interchange

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – A tractor trailer truck transporting nearly ten thousand live chickens to Canada overturned on the 90 westbound at the 190 interchange Thursday.

Some chickens were killed while others ran free. The SPCA was brought in to assist authorities in rounding up the chickens and to treat injured ones.

State Police Captain Michael Nigrelli said this was a first for him.

"In over 20 years of State Police work, every time I say I've seen it all, something else tops it," Nigrelli said. "As I'm standing here among all these chickens, they're coming home to roost."

The driver of the rig suffered minor injuries. He claims he was distracted while he was attemptingto change lanes and lost control.
