Amherst, NY – Amherst police arrested a mother Monday after responding to a call of four young children inside of a hot mini-van in a department store parking lot on Transit Road.
Tiffany Adams, 32, faces four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities say the children were inside the locked car for at least 14 minutes. Adams told police she thought she was only in the store for a minute or so.
The outside temperature was 87 degrees. An expert says the temperature inside the mini-van likely exceeded 100 degrees.
The children, ages one to five, were checked out at Women and Children's Hospital, and are fine.
