Buffalo, NY – The announcement that Frank Clark would not seek reelection to a fourth term as Erie County District Attorney has suddenly made the campaign a wide open race.
At least three Democrats have expressed interest in the job. Tuesday, Erie County Democratic party leaders gave their endorsement to deputy DA Frank A. Sedita,III. Clark is supporting Sedita.
Sedita has a proud family history. His father, Frank A. Sedita, Jr., is a State Supreme Court Justice. His grandfather, Frank A. Sedita, served as Buffalo mayor in the 1960s and '70s.
"I'm proud of my family," Sedita told reporters at a news conference Tuesday night. "They are my inspiration, but I am not running on their credentials. I'm running on my credentials."
Sedita is expected to face primary party challenges from former assistants in the DA's office, Kenneth Case and Diane LaVallee.
The Erie County Republican Party is also expected to field a candidate this year.
