Buffalo, NY – Fasal Galab is the first of the so-called Lackawanna Six to be released from federal prison. A Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson confirmed that Galab was transferred on April 29 to a half-way house in Detroit.
According to Felicia Ponce with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Galab is expected to remain in the custody of the community correction facility in Detroit until October when he is scheduled for release under three years probabtion.
Galab was one of six young Yemeni Americans from Lackawanna who was convicted in 2004 of supporting terrorism. This is an early release for Galab who was sentenced to seven years in prison.
