Buffalo, NY – A group of male students at the University at Buffalo donned women's shoes Thursday for the third annual "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" march at UB.
The event was held to increase awareness among men about the threat women face from rape and sexual assault. State Assemblyman Sam Hoyt joined in the spirit of the march by wearing open-toed women's shoes as he presented a $50,000 grant to a university student group. He says half the money will be used by the Anti-Rape Task Force to purchase a van to service the South Campus.
The Safety Shuttle Service provided transportation to more than 7,600 students last year.
