Lockport Man Inspired by Mom's Cancer Battle

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – A Lockport man inspired by his mother's battle with breast cancer is ready to hike one of the longest trails in the world.

30 year old Justin Cassamo will begin a more than 2,600 mile trek along the Pacific Crest Trail Monday.

The trail runs from from Mexico to Canada, through California, Oregon and Washington. Cassamo's mother was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer back in 2006. She under went a full spectrum of treatments at Roswell Park in Buffalo. Cassamo says she is now in remission, but he wants to do the hike in her honor and to help raise funds for Roswell.

Cassamo says he has raised just a little over a few hundred dollars, but once he is on the hike, he hopes more people go to his Website HIKE Web server.
