High School Hockey Players Reacting to Zednik's Horrifying Injury

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik continues his recovery at Buffalo General Hospital after he suffered a life-threatening injury in Sunday night's game with the Sabres.

The skate of a teammate partially severed his carotid artery. Zednik lost a significant amount of blood. But a Sabres team doctor managed to stop the bleeding, and he was taken to Buffalo General where he underwent emergency surgery.

At a news conference held late Monday afternoon, his surgeon, Dr. Sonyna Noor, said Zednik's prognosis is good.

Zednik's horrifying injury had some local high school hockey players talking about the importance of wearing a neck guard. WBFO'S Eileen Buckley talked with the coach and members of the St. Joseph's Collegiate hockey team.
