Flood Warnings for Cazenovia & Buffalo Creeks

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Cazenovia Creek near the hamlet of Ebenezer, and Buffalo Creek near Gardenville. But the Flood Warning for Cayugua Creek in Lancaster has been cancelled.

Cazenovia creek was at 9.3 feet. Flood stage for Cazenovia is 10 feet. Minor flooding could occur as the creek is expected to rise above flood stage by Tuesday afternoon.

But forecasters expect the river levels to drop later Tuesday afternoon, then rise again Wednesday morning, possibly cresting at 10.9 feet.

Minor flooding is expected in low lying areas east of Orchard Park road and south of Ridge Road in West Seneca. The flood warning is posted through tomorrow night.

Cayuga Creek has risen to 7.7 feet. Flood stage is 8 feet. Minor flooding is possible in lowlying areas of Lancaster and Alden.

Forecasters expect more minor flooding next to Buffalo Creek, especially near the Strawberry fields downstream from Union Road.

All of Western New York remains under a flood watch.
