Buffalo, NY – Preparation work continues for future demolition of the former Memorial Auditorium site in downtown Buffalo.
The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation approved the hiring of a Pittsburgh based company to conduct asbestos removal at the old Aud. Once the structure comes down the Harbor Corporation promises a downtown Buffalo Bass Pro.
Asbestos removal at the Aud is the first step toward tearing down the vacant structure. Harbor Canal Corporation chairman Jordan Levy says asbestos removal at the Aud is scheduled to begin in September of this year, followed by demolition on October 1st. He says that will pave the way for Bass Pro to begin construction of a new store. Levy says he expects to see designing plans from Bass Pro within the next several weeks. Levy admits that a pre-development agreement has not yet been signed by Bass Pro. But he is expecting a signature soon.
