Cheektowaga Firm Shows Off Wares at Consumer Electronics Show

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – The Consumer Electronics Show is a chance for some of the major players like Panasonic to showcase their new products. But it's also the place to be for smaller companies, such as Norraza, a Cheektowaga-based firm that sells accessories for consumer electronics.

The buzz surrounding this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was all about the 150 inch Plasma Television Panasonic unveiled. But also there was Norraza, one of two Buffalo area companies attending the show. Norazza was pushing, among other things, its D-skin -- a protective covering for CDs and DVDs that you can leave on, even when they're playing.

The company's founder and president, Tony Sperazza, says the annual show provides his company with a chance to meet up with purchasing agents from retailers and government agencies. For instance, he says Norazza carries a line of data destroyers that could prove useful to government agencies seeking to dispose of sensitive data that's no longer useful.

Norraza employs ten people at its office located near the airport, and another 20 at facilities elsewhere in the country. Sperazza says the company is in an acquisition mode.

As for that 150-inch plasma TV, don't expect to see that at your favorite electronics store anytime soon. A 100-inch version Panasonic introduced at last year's show costs nearly $70,000. Can you imagine what this newest one costs?
