Buffalo, NY – Governor Eliot Spitzer is proposing the creation of a $1 billion upstate revitalization fund to boost the economy of New York's struggling cities, including Buffalo.
Shortly after taking office last year, Governor Spitzer said revitalizing upstate was one of his top priorities. He appointed an economic development czar, Daniel Gunderson, who is based in Buffalo to oversee that revitalization. In his second State of the State address, Spitzer said that commitment will continue in 2008.
Gunderson joined us on the phone from Albany Wednesday to talk about Spitzer's address, including the Governor's emphasis of the University at Buffalo as an economic engine.
